TICKET ARCHIVE -> Clicking Hard Drive

Hi,
I have been having problems with booting and installing OS X 10.2 and 10.3. My iBook G3 hard drive has been making clicking noises and high pitched squeeks. Do you think my hard drive is broken? Also, how hard is it to replace.

(1) does the clicking noise only occurs when you try to install OS X ? Or
during a normal use ? Which OS do you run now ?
If 9.x, do you update your firmware (if required) ?:
