Hi, I am not quite sure if this is what you need, but... try this. Open System Prefernces: Network. Then enable AppleTalk for the connection that you use to connect to the server. (ethernet?)
After you did this, the linux server should be visible in the Finder under 'Network'.

Hello, i have already tried this and go nothing. actually name base virtual hosting means that sharing of various domin name on single PC for this we have to modify LMHOST file in windows to make browser understand the virtual domain name like
domain1 192.168.0.110
domain2 192.168.0.110
now if i enter domain1 in browser then it opens the directory from the local host which i assigned for domian1 in it.
By the way thanks for you reply.
Please try to solve this,
Thanks,
NMP

Hi again,
have a look if this is what you want.:

I am not that much into networking, I just thought the problem was somehere else... If this does not work, tell me, and I'll send you back to the pool...

Hello again,
Thanks for your quick reply, and thanks for a Greate artical too.
But my problem is still there, let me be more explicite in it,
i have a linux server configured with a web named myweb when i enter myweb in internet explorer then the page associated with this opens in Windows environment, cause i have configured the LMhost file to do so. but i dont know how can i configure the mac os X 10.1 to do so (when i enter myweb in explorer/Safari then it open the page associted with it at local server).
Thanks again for your time and research.

Ok, I'll send you back to the pool.
My last guess is to use NetInfo Manager in the Utilities Folder, however, I do not know waht do there...

I think the file you are looking for is called the hosts file. It is a standard UNIX file living in /etc/hosts You can put in IP/name translations there to point to your local server. Here are some URL's on the hosts file..
http://accs-net.com/hosts/what_is_hosts.html http://macmerc.com/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=83
The short version is edit your hosts file, then restart lookupd.
