COMPUTER TYPE: IBM
MODEL: Aptiva
RAM: 32meg
OS VERSION: Windows 98
SERVICE PACK:

DESCRIPTION:

I have an Aptiva 2156-D1N in the factory configuration. It has IBM Inet. Conn. Ver 4.18 preinstalled. The Network View window would say connection speed of 115200 bps, I downloaded and installed Ver 4.2 of the IBM Inet. Conn. and now my connection speed is 26400 bps, and I've noticed that there is a significant loss in speed. What's up? The only change was the update of the dialer.

Hello and wecome to NoWonder,

With the information that you have given to me, I can tell you that the 115200
bps is probably the port speed rather than the modem speed. You could try
switching the phone number that the dialer calls, to see if that is the problem.

If this doesn't help, write back and I will continue to work on it.
