Hi,

Can you please let me know how to connect my G5 Tower to my G3 PowerBook, I am using an ordinary Ethernet cable, but I can not connect to the two computers. I am trying to copy files from one computer to another.

Thanks very much Guys..

Hi Daniel

To connect to the G3 PB, you need to use an Ethernet Crossover cable rather than standard CAT-5.

Ok, I thought I could use a normal cable due to the G5 being OSX. Anyway I will buy one ASAP and are there any special settings I should use on both computers?

Thanks, Dan

For settings, open the Sharing PreferencePane in the System preferences and turn on Personal File Sharing on each machine.

Thanks Bob, My G3 is OS 9 and my G5 is OSX.
Do I need to adjust the Ethernet settings in my G5 preferences?
