Hi

I am running a G4 867 QS with 1.12 g RAM and I am using Logic Express.

At times when I am running Logic with a lot of Soft Synths etc, It sometimes stops and comes up with a Core Audio Message saying that the information was not processed in time or disk too slow.

Do I need to change any I/O buffer settings within Logic, or what do I need to do so that this problem is solved ?

Thankyou

Hi Pip,
My name is Tom and I will be assisting you.

There are things you can do to get a little more power for processing your audio but you can only take this so far. See it as a small tweak rather than a cure. I run Logic also and when I see those messages I have to accept that I'm asking too much of my computer.

There's always a trade off. If you want your computer to process more tracks, plugins etc then you will find other areas of performance drop off - most noticeably you will experience latency with live playing. That is, when you play your keyboard there will be a noticeable delay from hitting a key to hearing the noise.

If you increase the buffer settings you may get a bit more out of your computer but if I were you, if your computer is responsive and working well apart from the odd core audio message, I would leave things as they are.

The best way to get around the issue is to freeze some tracks or bounce a few together. Its much easier for you computer to just play back an audio track than to model a synth in real time!

The other solution is to get a faster computer!

Logic provides you with a CPU monitor so that you can see how hard you are pushing it - its there so you can organise the song to avoid such errors.

Hope that helps a bit.

feel free to get back to me if you need further assistance.

regards
Tom
