Greetings MacOSX help. My G4 is a dual boot machine, and i can normall start up in 9 and do stuff... but lately it's been just all of a sudden crashing HARD... i have to unplug from the wall, and when i start up again, date and time are back to the 1900's.

I thought it was just Logic 4.7, but now it seems to be doing it anytime, with just the finder open. But OSX 10.4.1 doesn't do it. Look forward to hearing from you. Thank you,

Chris

Correction: now it's doing it in OSX as well. This is worrisome. I installed some new ram, but that was a few months ago. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

Christopher,

The symptoms you describe all indicate the PRAM battery needs to be replaced.
When Time and Date do not stay correct is the first indication.

Open the tower and look for a small battery on the logic board. You can pull it out and take it to your nearest Radio Shack for a replacement.

Let me know if you need further assistance and thank you for using MacOSX.com !
