Any ideas where to find that darned Dell 926 driver for my macbook. I've heard that "some" Dell printers were former "lexmark" and tried to search for something similar...no luck. I've stumbled on this site and noticed you were able to help with a DELL 962. No support provided by DELL.

I really want to save money and have some use for this printer. If no such driver exist, I'll just toss this darned printer in the sea for use as an artificial reef. (that irritated I am with DELL and PC's)

I'm pretty sure that model IS a re-labeled Lexmark -- but I also know many people have tried the Lexmark driver and it doesn't recognize the Dell and can't be forced to work.

If you have a PC that you can use as a server, you can print with this method:

I don't have a PC that can be used as a server.

If I load parrallels and XP , will I be able to install the dell driver in the XP,albeit virtual, side? Will I be able to use the Dell printer from the XP side in my macbook? Does that also mean that I have to keep files stored in the XP side or will I be able to use a shared folder (where both OS's can access) and print from there?

I'm afraid the response will be a negative..but it's worth a try to ask.

Thanks for your quick inputs. Am trying to save a printer from becoming useless...though I'm sure fishes need an artificial reef somewhere.

Raymond

PS...I only have the 2.4 ghz macbook. I must have been dreaming of the macbook pro when filling up the question profile

I don't use parallels, but as far as I can see, yes, you should be able to install the Windows driver for the Dell printer and it should work. Please let me know.
