DESCRIPTION:

Hi, I am glad I found you guys here on the net. I read about this site in one of the pc magazines. I wonder if you would be so kind as to help me with my problem? I have a Compaq Presario 4704 and I am trying to get Direct X to work on it and I am having no luck! I Got as a gift Star Trek:Generations(MicroProse) which had directx 3 on it. In order to get it to play i had to download the correct drivers from the compaq website. I did that. It wouldn't work. I downloaded directx 5 and then installed a new downloaded driver from compaq. It still doesn't work. When I looked under directx setup everything is certified but "game compatability" it has next to it version 00.0000.00 and "no hardware support." I would really like to play this game, but compaq is giving me no real help(their answer for everything is a quick restore.)
I would appreciate any and all help, Thank you in advance for your assistence. JOE

Hi Joe,

which drivers did you have to download from the Compaq-Website, and what made you think you have to? Didnīt Direct X 5 itself recognize your graphics and sound hardware to install working drivers by itself?
You can also try to download Direct X 6, which is out not and said to be even more stable and compatible.

If you can give me more information, write back!
