Description:
It seems that after I've been using Netscape Communicator, although I'm not sure, I need to shut the computer down twice to actually turn it off.

I can't tell if this is something that Communicator is doing or OT or ...

Hi Paul, welcome to No Wonder!
I have also dealt with this problem and I have found that the reason it does this is due to your PPP connection not closing when the shutdown command is executed. I have found that if you close your PPP connection first then execute the shutdown command it then will shutdown on the first try.
