the apple tech site has nothing that addresses the problem in a way that really applies so I hope you might have an answer?

My powerbook (purchased new a year ago) has a super drive and when ever I try to burn a dvd (tried several types) it just ejects them. It will burn CDs but it's like it doesn't really recognize the dvds. I've followed all the instructions for using i-movie and i-dvd to no avail. It is quite frustrating to be unable to use that function. I feel I was mislead about the capability of the dvd burner in my powerbook.

Powerbook g-4 512mb ram factory installed running osx 10.3.8 Iv'e tried the single burn media and the re-recordable stuff by memorex... if that helps any?

your advice will be much appreciated I assure you.

Thanks,

Greg

Well, it is very likely that you could have been mislead, but lets try a few things first...

Ok, when dvd burners first came out, they had two formats, DVD-R and DVD+R, please do not get these mixed up, DVD+R was made for data pc's. DVD-R was made for DVD players, i recomend dvd-r because most computers will read that one better. Try a DVD-R disc and a DVD+R disk.

Tell me what happends...

Good luck

Thomas,
Thanks for responding so promptly! I will try what you say. To date I have only had the discs with dvd+ on them I will have to purchase some with dvd- and let you know what happens. Hopefully the later are the more commonly found?
