TICKET ARCHIVE -> External Firewire Hard Drive Not Mounting Correctly

Hi,

I have an external Firewire hard drive with 3 partitions (3 volumes should mount). Recently, only two of the volumes mount. I'm running 10.3 and the problem seems to have come out of nowhere. There is a chance the voumes were not properly ejected, but I can't confirm that.

What I have tried...

- I zapped the PRAM
- Tried the drive on a Powerbook G4, and an older blue/white mac, both running OS X. Both only recognizing 2 of the 3 volumes.
- Ran the Mac OS X disc utility.
- Called Lacie who told me to run a disc repair program

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Does Disk Utility see the third volume? Have you tried mounting it from there? If you can mount it, then maybe you can eject the whole disk and remount it.

Ben, thanks for the quick response.

The Disk Utility does see the third volume, but it won't let me mount it.

The only other idea that might work is a format of the drive

although not the best idea it is always worth a try am i right?

of course you would need to back up all your files first ^_^

confusing one eh?...
