Hi, I recently bought an IDE hard drive and am using it in a USB caddy. When I am downloading or saving things to it, the disk space seems to be filling up very quickly. I have around 2 GB of info stored and downloaded to this drive but it is only showing 140gb of space remaining on a 160gb drive. I know that the real available space on this drve to start with was around 150gb but where has the other 8gb gone. I have seen some .ds files and a "trashes" file but it can't seem to look at the size of them and don't know how to get rid of them, can you help?

Thanks,

Mark.

Formatting a disk takes up some space, and that's very common. On my 200gb disk, it shows up as an 192gb disk, with 185gb of available space.
