I'm having difficulty finding external modems (56K) which work with MacOS 10.4. Do any exist?

The internal modems do not seem to handle line noise very well. I only want to receive faxes with it (using PageSender).

Thanks,

James.

Hi James,

I'm enclosing a link to a website for you to view.
http://www.zoom.com/graphics/datashe...8529860101.pdf
You will want to review the model # 2986 being its the one for the mac. Also you can do a google search for externat modems for a mac to find others.
Hope this is of some help.

Thanks for using www.macosx.com

Thanks Eddy.

I have looked at this modem, but all it says is that it is 'iMac Compatible' and will run on "Mac OS 8.5 and above". There is no mention of Mac OS X, let alone 10.3 or 10.4.

Are you sure this modem works under 10.4?

Thanks again,

James.

Hi James,

I call the 800 number for zoom and was told that the model 2986 external modem will work with 10.3.x or 10.4.x. They told me it was tested with tiger and that it will work fine. The number is 1.800.631.3116 if you would like to call and confirm this for yourself.

Thanks for using www.macosx.com

Regards
Eddy
