I am looking for a solution to a problem that I have.
System Information:
I am running Mac OS8.1 on a Macintosh Performa 6300CD with internal Global Village TelePort Platinum V Telecommunications Card (Modem) with GlobalFax Version 2.5.5P software and MegaPhone Version 1.0.3P (For Performa) Speakerphone/Answering Machine from Cypress Research Corporation, both of which came bundled with the computer when I purchased it new almost two years ago. I am also running America Online Version 3.0.1 utilizing the AOL Link Version 1.0.1 Extension. In addition, I am running the full complement of Mac OS8.1Extensions.
The Telephone Setup Control Panel is set to Auto-Answer after 2 rings. The TelePort Modem is set to ³Initialize setting when the Serial Port is opened.² The GlobalFax Control Panel is set to automatically answer the phone after 2 rings and automatically receive a FAX.
What works:
I can make an outgoing call and talk using MegaPhone/Speakerphone.
I can manually answer an incoming call using MegaPhone/Speakerphone.
I can send a FAX.
I can manually receive a FAX by answering the phone when it rings, identifying the incoming call as a FAX, simultaneously pressing the Command-Shift-6 keys, and hanging up the phone while the incoming FAX is received.
What doesnıt work:
MegaPhone will not answer the phone automatically when it rings.
The Modem will not receive a FAX in automatic mode. It is my understanding that the Sender encounters a ³Busy² signal from my Modem.
Thus, my problem is that the Modem will not automatically answer an in-coming call.
Do you have a solution? Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give me.
