Hello,
I have Win 95- OS/R2 and AOL ver 4.0 I have heard that when files and e-mail are deleted they remain on the hard drive.
Im looking for a way to completly remove anything which i delete.(automatically) Is there any freeware utility either you can send or i can download which will completely wipe out anything i delete.

PS It might help to know that i have 4 utilities from CYBER MEDIA (Guard Dog, Oil Change, First Aid and Uninstaller)

Windows can accomplish this task for you reasonably well.
Right-click on the Recycle Bin icon on your desktop, and click on Properties. In the box that comes up, click on the box next to 'Do Not Move Files To The Recycle Bin'. Then, each time you delete a file, no copy will be saved.
What actually happens is that Windows sets a flag in the File Allocation Table which indicates that the space previously occupied by the deleted file is now available for new storage. The file itself is not deleted, but is rapidly written over as new files are made and saved. Once Windows has 'deleted' a file in this way, it is only available to a low-level disk-access program, and then only if no other file operations have taken place since the deletion was made. If you require an even greater deletion facility than that provided by Windows, then I would suggest doing a search on the Net for File Deletion Utilities.
If you have Tweak/UI installed on your computer, you may wish to look at the tab labelled 'Paranoia' - this allows you to select settings which ensure that temporary Internet files are always deleted after you close off any Internet session, thus preventing anyone with access to your computer from determining which Internet sites you visit.
