For some reason, my windows 98 finder no longer works. Everytime I try to find something, anything, I get an error message back. How can I resolve this problem?
Hi Eric
The only thng I can think of is that somehow your Registry files got mixed up (which can happen more often than you think) or a paticular OS file was overwritten.
You might want to try a 15 Trial Version of
Clean Sweep
http://www.qdeck.com/
or
Uninstaller
http://www.cybermedia.com/
as they are both good programs and clear up all sorts of problems by removing un-needed/un-wanted files in a system. They are both set by default, not to remove or change any important files and are fairly easy for people to use.
You also might want a program from Microsoft called RegClean. This does for your Registry entries what Scandisk does for your hard drive, in the way of finding errors and correcting them in the Registry (and hey it's FREE.) It's good idea to use this program about every two weeks or right after any "Illegal Operation" messages.
The self installing file can be downloaded from:

If none of the above fix the problem, send me a copy of the complete error msg.
Please use the "Reply To" button in your mail program
to keep messages all together when responding.
Thanks
