Computer Type: Apple
Model: Performa 6300CD
RAM: 64meg
RAM Enhancer: Virtual Memory
OS Version: Not related

Description:
Hi:
Just did a clean install of 8.5 using "Mac OS installer
helper". It seems to have done a fine job but I am left
with the problem of moving my fonts from the previous
system folder into the new system folder. There are fonts
in the new system folder and when I attempt to move the font folder from my previous system folder onto the new system folder I am presented with the message
"You cannot replace the folder fonts because it contains items that are in use."
Obviously thinking I wish to replace them rather than just add to them.
Hope you can help
thanks

Welcome to No Wonder!

You have two choices:

1)Boot from another disc. This way you can freely exchange fonts in the system
folder without getting the "fonts in use" message.

2) Or you could move the fonts to the new OS 8.5 fonts folder a few at a time
Don't try to replace the entire folder with another fonts folder. Just move in the fonts that you see are not already in the 8.5 folder.

Let me know if you still have problems
