Description:
About two months ago I got Netscape Communicator - 4.1 Before that I had the old Netscape and was using the Mac TCP and PPP. I seldom had problems - if any, just with Netscape. Since I installed this upgrade, it switched me to Free PPP. I can't have any extra extensions on - or it gives me the different error messages: sometimes, Error Type 1, sometime Type 3. And it refuses to open. If I continue - it will freeze.
I've tried experimenting with different extensions open that I need: printer, etc., CD, etc. It doesn't seem to matter: it will still refuse to open - and gives the error messages.
All of this means that I have to reboot every time I need to go on line ; and then reboot again in order to use my regular extensions.
I've thought about trashing the upgrade and Free PPP.... getting Netscape 3, etc., and getting out my 'old' Mac TCP,etc.
Any suggestions?

Dear phebe,
i would sugest you updrade to 7.6 it will cost about $40 and is much better for your 6400. you could also try getting the apple upgrade of Opentransport/ppp. from the appple web site. You might also try the freeppp 2.5 instead of the 2.6 There is a major change in the two. jerry
