Description:
I have a few questions before considereing a G3 upgrade card for my 8600/200:
Will the L2 cache already used in my machine become useless if I install a Newer Tech, Sonnet, etc. G3 upgrade card?
Could I purchase a 300 Mhz 604e from Apple and drop it into my machine?
Would any functions change with a G3 upgrade card such as video in/out?

Regards and thanks,

Randy

Thanks for stopping by NoWonder!

The prices of the G3's is going down. I would get a G3 over a 300 / 604e. You get much more bang for your buck. If you have a high quality L2 cache, the processor card will use it as a L3 cache. The backside cache acting as the L2.

You will keep all other functions of the Mac. Only the processor will be much better.
