RAM Enhancer: Ram Doubler 2.x
OS Version: MacOS 8.1
Description:
On one occasion during start-up, the computer stopped the start up sequence and just sat there. About every 30 seconds the computer (hard drive) would make a noise and that's all. I tried to start-up again and the same thing happened. I reinstalled everything and have not encountered that problem since, until I tried to defragment my hard drive w/ Norton. Norton started scanning the hard drive and then stopped. The hard drive again would make the same noise about every 30 seconds. I had to do a restart with the button at the back of the computer and was not able to defragment the hard drive. Recently I loaded a rather large game onto the computer that took up most of the hard drive space. Playing was just fine until I came to one section of the game and the same thing happened. The noise every 30 seconds and I had to force it to restart. The game plays fine as long as I avoid that one spot. I was wondering if the hard drive has some how been physically damaged on one specific section that causes this? Or is it something else. And it it is a hardware problem do you think Apple Care will cover it?
Disk First Aid doesn't report any problems.

Christopher,
This _sounds_ like a bad spot. You've mentioned Speed Disk, but what about Disk Doctor? It does a media scan. Bad spots are normal, and will develop from time to time.
