I just bought a new HP printer/scanner/copier (HP PSC 1410v-All-in-One). When I installed all, the printer did not "come up" as available. When I called HP for help, they said I am missing my "Print Setup Utility" for my system. Can anyone help, please.
Thank you!

Hi,
I'm Greg, your Volunteer Tech. I sincerely enjoy helping people set up their Mac so they can enjoy using it. I try, through a series of short interactions with you, to get enough information to help you. Please don't expect me to solve the problem without giving me more info or not telling me when I haven't yet fixed the problem.

Does that mean they already told you to look in Applications>Utilities for Printer Setup Utility?
Thanks for more info.

Thank you for responding, Greg. Yes, HP had me look for "Printer Setup Utility" on my HD>Aps>Utilities and it doesn't exist there or anywhere (with a search). I think I may have accidentally removed it when I was trying to "clean up" old ppds before installing this new printer. Yikes!

Ok, the first thing I'd like you to try is to download the 10.3.9 Combination (Combo) updater from Apple and re-Update your system (not using System Update). That frequently replaces important things like Printer Setup.

OK! I'll try your suggestion and let you know how it works.

Hi Greg,
I downloaded 10.3.9 Combo, and updated with the download. Still no "Print Setup Utility" in my Aps folder, Utility folder. Have any more tricks up your sleeve?

Thanks again!

Please download the program "Pacifist" from www.versiontracker.com.

Run that, insert your Panther CD or DVD and click on the middle button "install OS X packages." It will ask you to insert a second Cd, I think, as it is indexing all of the parts of OS X. Then search for Printer Setup Utility and install it. Restart the Mac and see if Printer Setup works.
If Printer Setup doesn't work now, we're talking reinstall OS X.
