RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: MacOS 8.1
Description:
Hello!
I installed 8.1 on my mac in the hfs+ mode. For the first time since then, after I started up from the hard drive I did a clean installation of 8.0 (expecting to be able to then update to 8.1) . When I attempted reboot, I got a message something like 'the computer doesn't support this version of software' I don't have a bootable 8.0 or 8.1 CD.
What are your feelings?
Dan

First, I believe starting up from the Disk Tools floppy is enough to install either OS 8 or 8.1. v.8.1 doesn't need a cd, but 8 does. To get the cd to mount, put it into the caddy before you restart with Disk Tools (another little trick is to delete as many items as necessary on the floppy to copy the Apple CD ROM extension into the Extensions Folder on the floppy--then CDs are supported). Second, Apple's Unity CD, which neither you nor I have, automatically installs v8.1 after v.8. This may be the thing to do.
