DESCRIPTION:
Evertime I go to download something...from the net...the window opens and I see the pages downloading but when they reach the file there is a red asterix. Neddless to say what ever it is never gets downloaded and I have no clue how to find and fix the problem. Please Help! Thank you.
Hi Rachelle!
Welcome to No Wonder. The red asterisk is normal, the best explanation I have come up with for it is that it's Microsoft's cute little way of saying "Check, got that one. Check, got that one too." Other than that, the little window animation of the flying files is just there for the entertainment of those who haven't anything else interesting to watch, I guess (who knows?).
Anyway, the red asterisk is not an indication of a failed download. However, the absence of the downloaded file in the directory to which you saved it IS.
Can you tell me a little more about how you go about downloading files from the net? Does the download process window (with the little flying paper) ever finish? Are there any error messages?
You can email me directly by clicking "Reply" to this message.
