Howdy folks -
Anyone out there with some insight on this would be greatly appreciated/revered/enamored of. I've got a user with a 12" iBook G4, OS 10.3.x, who says that several times today he's been working in MS Word (Office X), and the machine has "locked up" and then blue screen-ed on him. He described "locking up" as "the mouse pointer moves, but I can't click on anything, change applications, force quit, etc. No response other than the mouse moving." After this lockup, the computer will go to a blue screen with the little spinning wheel at the bottom, & will spin perpetually & not come back to life. Restarting with command+ctl+power button reboots the machine, & it comes back up looking fine. X number of minutes later, though, the problem apparently resurfaces. He says he thinks it's only happened when he's been working in Word.
Any thoughts????
Thanks all, in advance,
Tim
instead of word try using neo office. Microsoft software causes a lot of problems even with windows. Are you sur it actually BSOD on you, macs kernel panic just like linux, windows is the only os with that horrible blue screen, replace word or office with neo office(its free) it wont crash anywhere near as much, also try using disk utility's first aid function, if the problem continues without runing word you might have a bad stick of ram.
