I accidentally closed a VERY IMPORTANT ichat before I saved it. My preferences weren't yet set to automatically archive them...I read somewhere that it may be possible to retrieve it from the server but don't know what that means as I am not really a computer person....
This chat is worth a lot to me..can anyone help?

If you have transcripts enabled (iChat preferences - Messaging), then a transcript of the chat will be saved on your computer. If you don't have that, it may still be possible to retrieve the chat, depending on what IM service you are using. For example, Google's Talk can be used with iChat, and the chat is automatically saved on Google's servers. Other IM services may do this as well, but I would need to know what service you use to know (example: AIM, .Mac/MobileMe, etc).

Unfortunately, if you did not log the chat locally in iChat, there is no way to retrieve the chat, as AIM does not have any sort of logging feature. If there's anything else you are having problems with, don't hesitate to ask.
