KNOWLEDGE LEVEL: Intermediate

PROBLEM: Software
COMPUTER TYPE:
MODEL:
RAM: 32meg
OS VERSION: Windows 95
SERVICE PACK:

DESCRIPTION:

I have installed IE 4.0, aol 3.5 and have windows 95. When I try to access a website, I get an error. When I use explorer and access the history file (in windows) I get an error. I can receive mail, and receive files attached to mail but that is it. The errors are wininet.dll and kernel32.dll but I have checked the versions of these and they are current. I will sometimes also get a note about an internal error and to shut down and restart the computer. Any ideas what is up? --Thanks.

Hi Katherine!

Welcome to No Wonder! I have a few suggestions for you:

1. Upgrade your version of AOL. The final release of v4.0 is available from Keyword: UPGRADE and it resolves compatibility issues with IE4.

2. Download and install Service Pack 1 For Windows 95 from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/dow...n/W95setup.exe
then reboot your machine and run the Kernal32 update, available at
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/dow...W95krnlupd.exe

3. It sounds like you may also have a corrupted install of IE4, if you don't have the latest version (v4.01) I suggest upgrading that also.
Or uninstall IE and re-install it to correct the errors.

I hope this helps! and please feel free to contact me if you have further questions!
