i ran norton disk doctor the other day and a major error came up. it said "a major error was found in the header node of the wrapper's catalog B-tree" it then said that the leaf record count is incorrect (11,2,20).
i have no idea what that means first, and second the fix feature is blanked out and i cant find any more information.
hopefully you will know what i am talking about, thanks for your time

Hi Mike
Are you having any problems with the machine currently?
First thing to do is get rid of Norton's. It doesn't work on OS X system, gives bad info and can actually damage your file system.
Boot with your Jaguar CD by holding the C key down.
After the Installer Screen appears, go up to the Installer Menu to Disk Utility. Use that to Repair Disk. If it finds any errors, run it again, until no errors are found.
If it continually finds errors, let me know what they are.

a week or so ago i was having problems with my mac, it would bring up the warning to turn off your computer immediately. this generally happened when i tried to get too many things started at once, but it was not an uncommon process for me. it was opening itunes and ichat and safari fairly quickly. also i do not have jaguar, i have mac osx 10.2

Mike
10.2 Is Jaguar
10.3 is Panther
and 10.4 is Tiger
Make sure you run Disk Utility as I mentioned.
After that, boot normally and use Disk Utility in your Utility folder to Repair Permissions.
Next download 'Yasu' (free)
Run that to run the Cron Scripts (Apple's built in maintenance routines). Do that once a week.
Also use it to clear Caches.
You didn't mention what machine you have or how much memory you have installed. If you have less than 512MB of memory installed, you can have slowness with apps.
Like anything mechanical, computers also have to be maintained.
