I bought a dvd writer and wanted to use toast to burn dvds. However, I am having trouble installing toast 6 or 7 on my new ibook. When I try to install toast on to the hard drive from the cd, I get a message saying "The alias, 'ButterLib' cannot be copied to the destination perhaps because the destination does not support this type of alias". This message appears on both my desktop (osx10.3.9) and my laptop(osx10.4.2), so I know it isn't just the laptop. Is there a way around this?
thanks in adance for any help

After doing some searches for this problem - It's usually reported when trying to install from a burned copy of an original toast installer CD. Is that possible in your case?

Yes,
I left the original copy at work and use the burned one for home use. But I don't understand why this changes anything, I have successfully installed toast on my desktop using the same cd when I was using OSX 10.1 and I had no problems. I have also used this cd on another desktop at my house without issues, I am curious as to what might have changed to make it incompatible now.
Thanks Dale

I can't tell you what might have changed, but I found some posts with just this error on the Roxio support pages. Seems in every case, the person was using a burned copy. There may have been some change to the file structure in Panther and Tiger that requires a new burn from the original CD to copy properly.

I'll probably do just that.
Thanks for your help!
