Computer Type: Apple
Model: iMac
RAM: 65+
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: MacOS 8.5.1
Description:
The iMac automatically connects to the internet upon startup. To avoid this, I have unchecked the "automatically connect/TCP" in Remote Access Control Panel. However, when I do this and then try to connect upon launching Netscape, I get a message stating that Netscape cannot connect due to insufficient resources. How do I set up Netscape to make the internet connection only when it is launched, rather than connecting automatically on startup of the iMac? Thanks.

Well, it sounds to me like an alias of Netscape has somehow made it to the start-up folder. This is a pretty easy fix if that's the problem.
Open your Systems Folder, then open the Control Panels folder. Now find Extension Manager and open that. If you scroll all the way to the bottom of this list you will find "Start up items" and Netscape will have an icon there. There is also a check box next to the icon, just turn it off by clicking it. When you restart the computer Netscape will not launch.
There is another way to get rid of this problem if you're sure you never want Netscape to launch at start up, Just open the Systems Folder and scroll to the bottom of the window. You'll find the start up items folder there, just open it, drag the Netscape alias to the trash and empty the trash. That should take care of the problem. If it doesn't please let me know and I'll figure out something else.
