Description:
When I open my browser (Navigator), my Mac automatically dials my ISP and opens the connection. Same goes for my email program (Eudora) and AOL Instant Messanger. However, when I go to the Apple Menu and select Internet Dialer, so I can sign off, (like I have been doing for months) it says it cannot find the original. OK, so I do a Find File, find what looks to be Internet Dialer (at least that's what it says it is) and double click on it. It presents me with setup options, as if I've never used the program (asks me for my name, address, ISP, credit card#, etc.) I can sign on fine, but I can't bring up the Internet Dialer, so I can't sign off (without shutting down), and god forbid I ever need to change access numbers or my ISP. Any Help is appreciated.
This just happened today before I came to work (on a Wintel machine...yuck). Previously, it was fine.

Hello Ted and Welcome to No Wonder!
I'm thinking that you somehome trashed your InternetDialer, which is ok because it's buggy and you don't need it. Your Mac is probably using PPP or FreePPP to sign on to the internet. Next time it dials up, take a look at the status window, it will probably have the name and version number of the application. You can also do a Find File for PPP or FreePPP and open one of their Setup applications. When you're not connected it will have a Dial or Connect button and when you are connected it will have a Hang up or Disconnect button.
Let me know what you find,
Kristina
