(1) do you have messages in the Console (Applications/Utilities) ?
(2) In your ~/Library/Preferences, could you move to the desktop the "com.apple.iPhoto.plist. Then relaunch iPhoto. If this not solve, replace back the old plist

I'm still looking for answer.
Lime a friend (I just emailed him this moring, but no return yet), I face the same problem with iPhoto 2. With less than 200 photos in my album, I decide to backup the iphoto libray, trash all the iPhoto's library and re-import my photo.

I hope I can find an answer as soon as possible

dear phil,

thank you phil. i'll try your solutions...

iphoto extractor is good, but i wont reimport all of my photos because it would take months to order my huge library new (with keywords/folders/ ect...).

thank you for your personal engagement!!

i let you know if i have any success or not....

A malloc is a problem of allocating memory
(1) either a bug in the application
(2) either a problem in ram boards. Do you add extra ram ?

i did add extra ram a long time ago when i bought the g4. i dont think that thats the problem because i have just problems with iphoto and with no other application.

if i rename the iphoto library and create a new library iphoto is working. i can import pictures and everything is fine and so on...

i had similar problems with iphoto in the past. the library gets bigger and bigger and the problems with i photo are getting bigger too. especially when i import photos the app crashes down. i try again. the app crashes down again. i do a restart and try again and iphoto is crashing - i try it the day after and it runs... then the next imports are fine. do you know what i mean?

the last import had crashed iphoto again. i tried approx. 3 times and since this import iphoto is "out of order". i had exactly the same problem with i photo 4. i cant get iphoto 4 back to life since i've installed iphoto5 after that everything was ok.... its really, i dont know.... bloddy...

i hope you understand my special-english :-)

Mario, if you daily handle so many images, I think you should have a look/try to other program, like (for instance) iViewMediapro
http://www.iview-multimedia.com/index.php

I'm a lucky because my boss offers me the license for the pro release.
I cannot imagine going back to iPhoto..which is now relegated to handle the family's dog image ;-)

And yes, I never used iMovie, iDvd,...

The only Isomething I daily use is iTunes

dear phil,

thank you for your advise. i ll take a look to iview - i did the trial-download. im looking forward to see what it can do...

iphoto as a family-dog-photo-app is ok as long as it was a free software.....
