Hi there to whoever can help me on this... (and big thanks to Jabberwocky for his/her help on my Lotus Notes query)

So heres my dilemma... I keep getting Kernel Panics in applications and have booted into the OS (using open apple S) to do fsck -f check on the OS.

Before I get to input 'fsck -f' to do a file system check I notice that there is a dozen lines of text informing me of kernal panics.

I have noted done the text as follows:

com.apple.driver.initio.FWBridge. has no kernel dependancy
com.apple.iokit.IOFireWireSerialBusProtocol. has no kernel dependancy
com.apple.driver.IOFireWireSerialBusProtocolSansPhysicalUnit. has no kernel dependancy
com.apple.iokit.IOFireWireSerialBusProtocol. has no kernel dependancy
com.apple.driver.LSI_FW_500. has no kernel dependancy
com.apple.iokit.IOFireWireSerialBusProtocol. has no kernel dependancy
com.apple.driver.Oxford_Semi. has no kernel dependancy
com.apple.iokit.IOFireWireSerialBusProtocol. has no kernel dependancy
com.apple.driver.StorageLynx. has no kernel dependancy
com.apple.iokit.IOFireWireSerialBusProtocol. has no kernel dependancy
com.apple.driver.iPodFireWireTransportSupport. has no kernel dependancy
com.apple.iokit.IOFireWireSerialBusProtocol. has no kernel dependancy

Hopefully I have note made any errors in the copy above...

If anyone can let me know what I can do to fix these Kernel errors...

Thanks in advance...

Michael.

Visit http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/faqs.html and read the FAQ on troubleshooting kernel panics.

It would also be more helpful if you could post the recent entries from the panic.log. Open your Console app (Utilities folder), click on the Logs icon in the toolbar. Locate the panic.log in the sidebar list. Post the most recent entry. Panic log entries usually have two sections, so be sure to post both sections. You might also check the console and system logs to see if there is any information related to what was happening at the time of a kernel panic.

It would also be helpful to know which particular applications you use that result in kernel panics or if all applications result in panics.

Be sure the applications you use are current and compatible with Tiger. Incompatible applications, preference panes, contextual menu items, menubar items, startupitems, etc. may cause kernel panics.

There arent any entries in the panic log as the info previously posted was taken down (by hand) when I went into do the fsck -f check in the back end of the OS.

I have been onto the site and downloaded memtest and it performed a full check on my RAM with no errors.

The errors are in the extensions as listed...

Any feedback ??

Are you sure there are no entries in the panic.log? Unless the machine completely freezes when the panics occur, there would usually be a panic dialog and the panic data would be written to the panic.log.

The data you've listed from the single-user boot are not kernel panics. They are simply informative messages.

Hmmmm ok...

Well I will post a fresh msg as soon as I get some (well I hope I dont get any...) but have had a host of Kernel panics from running Lotus Notes 6.5.3 in Mac OS X 10.4.5 - and managed to hunt through the IBM Notes website (the worst site in the World to negotiate) and find updaters 6.5.4 and 6.5.5 which have resolved the Kernel Panics...

Guess I am a bit neurotic about Kernel Panics after the amount I have had... And thats why I listed the list when I booted into the Back End.

Thanks for the replies so far Skapp.

Problems with Lotus Notes have been reported. Frequently updating to the latest version helps, especially if you are using a version that was released before the current OS X version.

From what little I know Lotus Notes isn't that well supported for OS X. Unless it's essential that you use Lotus Notes, you might consider looking at a replacement application.
