Knowledge Level: Expert but stumped

Problem: Combination
Computer Type: Power Computing
Model: Power Tower Pro 225
RAM: 65+
RAM Enhancer: Virtual Memory
OS Version: MacOS 8.1

Description:
Two Problems that may be related.

1. Sometimes when dragging a file from one window to another all windows and icons disappear. The icons will then reappear, but the windows will usually not. This is similar to what happens when forcing the Finder to quit.

2. I have two internal 2 gig hard drives and a Zip drive.
Sometimes when copying files from one to another the computer locks up. The only way out is to force a restart.

These problems are so sporadic that I can't repeat them with any regularity. I am stumped!

P.S. I also have a Radius 81/110 and problem #2 has also occured on it when copying files from the Zip to it's hard drive.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Russ

Russell,

#1 sounds like some corrupted part of your System.

#2 Sounds like SCSI termination problems. Do you have an active terminator? Does it disappear if you remove the Zip from the chain?
