My Mac mini crashed two weeks ago and it won't allow me to even reinstall from the disk!! It goes straight to Open Firmware and prompts me to reboot. I've called Apple Support and they helped a bit but still no resolution. One thing I've noticed is I'm getting pretty much the same error message before it goes to the OF prompt:

Invalid memory Access %SRR0: xxxxxxxx %SRR 00083030

Is this a conflict with the memory chip or is this a kernel panick on the logic board?

Hi Eddie

The message 'Invalid Memory Access' usually means that you have defective RAM installed or a bad boot rom/processor, but try this;

Disconnect anything connected, printer, scanner, modem, etc

Boot into Open Firmware, you can try resetting it's variables. This is done by typing the following two commands, and hitting the Return key at the end of each command.

set-defaults
reset-nvram
reset-all

Same course of action as Apple Support save the set-defaults command; same result. BTW; which type of RAM chip should I look for. I'm looking to get either a 512M stick or a full gig. Thankx again!

The Mac Mini uses;

184-pin PC7200 DDR333 SDRAM

This lists the memory and a good company to buy from;
