i recently bought an mbox with protools. I have installed protools but when I try to open the program a window pops up saying that the digidesign hardware has either not been installed or is in use. Our emac G4 is OS X 10.2. I think I need to update it to 10.3 for it to recognize mbox (as I understand 10.4 isn't working yet). Problem is I am skint. My friend gave me the install discs for his ibook G4 with mac OS X 10.3.2. Can I safely install this on my emac? Shall I just save essential data and then go ahead and install?
Any advice is much appreciated. Chris x
The install disks that you want to try might work, or may refuse to work, as they came with a different mac model. You can try.
If you want actual answers to your questions about use of ProTools, you should check at
http://www.digidesign.com/ There's lots of support and compatibility answers there, and will help you decide how to upgrade. Looks like your older eMac is not a supported system, although it may work.
