Mac help quits after a second. I followed the directions in a previous post, which involved removing these files:

From User/library/preferences
com.apple.help.plist
com.apple.helpui.plist
com.apple.helpviewer.plist

And from User/Library/Caches
the com.apple.helpui folder.

It worked once, then returned to quitting right after starting.

What program are you asking for help with that causes it to die? It sounds like theirs a problem with the program that you are requesting help with. I know I had this problem, and after fixing the problem. Whenever I would request help with a certain program, it would always start quitting on me. To fix that problem, I had to reinstall the "troubled software" After doing that I was able to launch help from the software & it continued to work fine.

Thanks,
Paul Fletcher

It happens whenever I hit (ctrl) (shft) (?) no matter what I'm trying to get help on. Right now I am trying to use it to learn more about items on my desktop.

Hmm.... I'm not 100% sure on this one. I've never had the Finder corrupt the help viewer. Their could be a problem with the finder. I would suggest you try what Apple says to do, I've included the support page that has to do with this problem.

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107013

If this doesn't help let me know & will try some other things.

Thanks,
Paul
