I have set up my POP E mail account with my ISP, I had no problems with it on previous Windows machines.
I can receive e mail no problem, but none of my outgoing mail will go, when I put my e mail server for outgoing as smtp.xxxxx.com, it simply says "cannot send mail on this server or cannot send mail on smtp.xxxxx.com
Its frustrating any ideas ?

Hi Peter
What is your ISP?
No need to put x's instead of the name, can't help without knowing.

Hi Bob, thanks for replying you might be my life saver.
The ISP is Wanadoo.co.uk part of Freeserve Group.
The message goes like this,
"unable to send mail on smtp.wanadoo.co.uk
I checked if the firewall is on..and its off...however the incoming mail server for this ISP is fine, working as Pop.wanadoo.co.uk, messages coming in just fine...is it a TIGER OSX problem, please help Bob.

Do not use Secure Password Authentication. Check the Account preferences in Mail to make sure.
Try using;
smtp.freeserve.com

Bob you are a genius, thank you so much for your expertise, that has fixed the problem, how frustrating, also Bob everytime I download an application to open, like Chikkatext for PC TO Mobile and Windows Media Player 9 for Mac, it keeps saying "THERE IS NO APPLICATION ASSOCIATED WITH THIS FILE" Can you answer this or do you want me to post another question.
Thanks for sorting out my e mail account, you are a life saver,
Best wishes Pete

When you get that message about the downloads, you should have the option of choosing an app to open the file with. If it's a .dmg file, you should have the option of choosing 'DiskImageMounter". Choose that.

An .exe file is a PC file and won't work on a Mac.
Try downloading Windows media Player using this URL;
