I have OS X.4. I tryed to boot by holding command-S after no other way worked. It starts to loop a statement: COULDN'T FIND ROOT USER, SLEEPING AND TRYING AGAIN.

How can I start? I can not get the cd to work because it will not boot far enough. I have another boot disk attached. How do I boot from that one?

thanks for your help!

Les,

Try holding option at startup. This should show you a list of bootable volumes and give you the ability to select the one you want. Maybe you can select the alternative boot disk this way.

Hope this helps,
Wes
