OS Version: MacOS 8.1

Description:
Can't you make a desktop alias with 8 or 8.1 system software on a G3 Mac?

I found make an alias for Apple Menu item as an automated task but no make an alias command. I am making an alias in the Apple menu item, then taking it out and putting it on my desktop. There must be an easier way. Can I copy something from my old machine and use it? Is it an extension?

Del,
There is no way to make a "desktop alias" directly. Simply select the file
you want the choose Make Alias from the File menu and move the alias to the
desktop manually. You probably can automate this process with Apple Script if
you wish.

Good Luck,
