Knowledge Level: Intermediate
Problem: Software
Computer Type: Apple
Model: Power Mac 7100/66
RAM: 32meg
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: MacOS 8.1

Description:
After upgrading from the Apple operating system 7.6 to OS 8.1, I found I could no longer print material by giving a command for manual feed. Only automatic feed works. This occurs regardless of what application software I am using.

My system specifications are: PowerMac 7100/66, System OS 8.1, LawerWriter 8.5.1, Finder 8.1, and I am using a LaserWriter Select 360. My extensions file contains what appears to be the correct driver for the printer and, as indicated above, manual feed printing was possible before this operating system upgrade.

I would appreciate any advice you could offer and would also ask if the upcoming operating system to be released by Apple might either cause or fix this problem as well. Many thanks.

Gary,

With my Laserwriter II NTX and Laserwriter 8 extension, selecting the print command (in Netscape, e.g.), brings up a window that includes an option for either printing from the cassette or manually (it's a pull down menu in the window). Can you access it? I have to feed a sheet of paper into the printer for this, but it works for me with OS 8.1.
