I bought a G4 15" 1.5GHz Powerbook with 512 MB of memory installed. Now I'd like to upgrade it. When I go to Crucial, they recommend a 200-pin SODIMM, DDR333 (PC2700) unbuffered non-ECC stick with CL = 2.5. However, their 1 GB stick is $205 (a shock to me -- I looked a few weeks ago and it was $30 cheaper, and I thought memory tended to go down, not up). Newegg.com has sticks with identical statistics for significantly less (around $100--$120). Is it OK to put these in the Powerbook? Up until recently I was exclusively a PC user, and I don't know how picky Macs are about the memory they use.
Hi Jade
If the memory is identical, it should work. But, don't buy any memory that doesn't have a Lifetime warranty.
OS X is very picky about memory.

Memory prices go up and down all the time.

Thanks for this very quick reply. I found OWC's site through RAMseeker, and they seem to offer prices much closer to what I was hoping to pay. I don't know if you're comfortable going into this degree of product specificity, but is it worth it to spend the extra $40 to get the Samsung memory card as opposed to OWC's own?
PS- I neither work for, or know anyone personally at OWC
