Knowledge Level: Intermediate
Problem: Hardware
Computer Type: Apple
Model: Performa 5220CD Japanese
RAM: 24meg
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: MacOS 8.1
Description:
The built-in monitor on this machine flickers
in and out of good color. The primary shift is
towards yellow-brown, like 10 yrs of nicotine.
I might have fixed it in July with a PRAM zap
because it stopped for about 5 weeks. It is back
and nothing has changed electrically in the setup.
The shift often has horizontal bands associated, but
the whole screen goes off to the yellow cast.
Help me I can't stand the light show!

Hi Dan, welcome to Nowonder, I'm robertw.
Verify that environmental interference is not the cause of the
flickering and discoloration. To do this, try the following suggestions;
be sure to look for improvements and changes after following a
suggestion:
* Change the location and/or rotate the computer.
* Remove metal objects from the area.
* Look for other environmental influences (power lines, generators,
refrigerators, air conditioners).
* Check fluorescent lighting fixtures and transformers, which are also
common sources of interference.
If the symptoms you are experiencing do not appear to have an
environmental cause, contact an Apple-authorized service provider for
additional assistance.
