RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: MacOS 8.5

Description:
I'm trying to free up HD drive from all unnecessary files and folders included with OS8.5. I do not use Internet Explorer or any other Microsoft product. If you can tell me, what is "MS Preference Panels?" Found in the System Folder? Can I safely discard them and gain valuable HD space? I pulled them out of the System Folder and have had them on the Desktop with no apparent problem arising using most of my applications including Netscape, Sherlock, NisusWriter, and most utilities such as Norton Antivirus and Norton Utilities. I would suspect these are Microsoft files connected with IE/Outlook Express, or America On-line, etc.?
