Description:
PROBLEM #1: Computer crashed due to bad video card and my trusty old calendar program that came with computer is gone! I tried to recover the calendar from the old setup disk but couldn't find "Cal'. Please email a list of calendar programs with descriptions compatible w/ Mac OS 8.1.

I am an architect and use the calendar as a diary of activities for billing purposes. I found a program "GMS Calendar" made by Green Mountain Software in Huntsville, Alabama that could work for me, but it crashes my machine and upon restart the calendar loses all notations. I cannot reach Green Mountain Software to describe my problem (I'm new to the internet, email, etc).

PROBLEM #2: My HP Deskwriter 540 printer w/ patch from 6.0.4 barely works as follows: upon giving print instructions at computer to deskwriter, I wait approximately 1 minute than box opens that printer not hooked up and I am given the choice to cancel or continue, if I push the button to continue the same message occurs again after 1 minute and upon the third try the printer works (halfway through the printing process the message again occurs, and the printing stops one line short of a completed page, but upon pushing the continue button, the printing is completed.

Hello Stephan and Welcome to No Wonder!

There are dozens of calendar applications available for your Mac. A good way to find one would be to go to http://www.download.com and enter the word Calendar in the search field. There are many shareware and freeware calendars that you can download and try until you find one that suits your needs. A popular title is Prioity One . It's OS8 compatible, has a reminder feature, and is searchable.

As far as your printer, I'd need a little more info before I can help. Is it connected using AppleTalk connectors, or by a standard serial connection? And are you using a Global Village modem? Here is a Hewlett Packard Support document that may help you: http://www.hp.com/cposupport/printer.../bpm05784.html

Good luck, and let me know if this helps,

Kristina
