Problem: Combination
Computer Type: Apple, Farallon, Global Village
Model: Performa 6115CD, Power Book 5300 cs
RAM: 48meg
RAM Enhancer: Ram Doubler 2.x
OS Version: MacOS 8.1

Description:
Trying to network Performa 6115 CD running 8.1 with a Powerbook 5300cs running 7.5.2. Using Farallon EtherMac AUII to 10Base-T transceiver witrh Global Village 56k/Ethernet PC Card. I am following the built in help program but still does not work. Performa says there is a problem with Ethernet port, etc.

Any suggestions?

Mike,

You need a cross-over cable to connect the two units. Assuming that you have the cross-over cable, you need to have both units power-on at approximately the same time to sense the ethernet network.

REALLY, the best bet is to buy an inexpensive hub. Asante sells a 5 port hub under $50.00. Believe me, it works better and you don't have all the hassles.

Check out www.asante.com, Lifetime warranty, free technical support. It beats trying to juggle with the cross-over.
