Dear tech-support,

I have 2 computers, a dell 2400 desktop computer running windows xp and an ibook g4 running mac os 10.4.2. I have a belkin wireless router connecting the wired dell and it sends out wirless internet to my ibook g4. I can get on the internet with both. But i am trying to be able to share files and print wirlessly between the 2 computers. I am not shure how to do this? If you could please help me that would be great.
Thanx,
Zach

Where is the printer attached?

Do you wish to file share on each computer or just one?

The process isn't difficult but it's detail oriented. I'm providing you some linked I Googled as it would take forever for me to walk you through this via the support board.

Sharing Printers via XP

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...utt_july2.mspx

File Sharing via XP

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;304040

Give one of them a shot and see how it goes, let me know. A few pointers...

You'll need to create a user account on XP which is named the exact same as your Apple user account. Likewise, the passwords should be the same. You can skip this if you enable the "Guest" account under XP but it's not advised if someone should gain access to your LAN.

Make sure there is an OS X print driver for the printer you own.

Here's another article, although a bit dated: http://www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/ma...19/mac_pc.html

To connect to the Windows share, in Finder, select Go | Connect to Server and click Browse. You should see your Dell's name - double click and look for the shares.

Question: what version of XP? Home or Pro? What service pack - 1 or 2?

Once you've got the XP sharing working we'll tackle it from the Mac side.

You may need to enabled Windows File Sharing in the firewall. Start | Settings | Control Panel | Windows Firewall (or similar). There should be a checkbox to enable file sharing.

Let me know when you've made some progress.
