DESCRIPTION:

All the desktop icons on my laptop have disappeared, I'm only left with the titles. All the programmes work perfectly and neither Norton Utilities or First Aid report any problems. All other graphics are working and the files containing the icons appear to be in place.
Can you advise - would be grateful.

Hi Antony, welcome to NoWonder!

Could you tell me how many icons do you have on your desktop? Because the problem you have is a typical problem with all version of Windows. It happens when (usually combination of the following):
- you have too many icons on your desktop
- you're using 16-bit color or more
- your video ram is only 2MB or less
