RAM Enhancer: Ram Doubler 2.x
OS Version: MacOS 8.1
Description:
Hi I have a Performa 6110CD (which has a PPC 601 in it). It has 24 megs of RAM ( orginally 8). I recently upgraded to Mac OS 8.1 and now my computer doesn't send sound to my monitors speakers (which also means I can't plug headphones into the monitor). The only choice for sound out in the control panel is "built-in". I also tried plugging the headphones right into the sound out port(didn't work). The Help system says my monitor doesn't have speakers, but it does. They have always worked. It also says my computer routes sound automatically, but in my opinion is doing it well. Thanks for your help.
p.s. I'm not sure what you mean by "expert but stumped", as far as how much "jargon" i know, but I do have a good knowledge of macs. Just don't use any un-software jargon, I don't know alot about the hardware. Thanks.

Chris,
Apple changed sound on 8.1, so for 8.1 users with sound problems I always copy-paste this piece. Hope it helps.
