Hi,
Audio data is not sent through the SCSI cabling. You have to connect external speakers to the external drive throught he little headphone jack on the CD-ROM. You may also connect it to the sound in on your computer to have it play through the speakers on your computer. This is a real hassle but that is one of the disadvantages of having an external drive. Internal CD-ROM drives have an audio connector that will send the audio to a special sound in on the logic board of the computer which is why you have to select CD-Audio in the Monitors and Sound control panel to listen to CD's.

Good Luck,

MichaelM
