MODEL: HP Pavilion 7270
RAM: 16meg
OS VERSION: Windows 95

DESCRIPTION:

When I try to install First Aid 98 (Cybermedia), I get an error message that not enough drive space is available. I have checked, and this is not the case. About 200 MB of disk space is available. I suspect that the real problem is that, as configured, my system cannot load a very large program like this into memory. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks.

Hi Robert

Check your C:\config.sys file and see if it has this line in it:

DOS=HIGH,UMB,AUTO
(if you have a line mentioning Highmem.sys, you can take it out as this line uses Highmem.sys in a much better way)

This will load DOS in upper memory giving you the max amount available. Mind you, if you "only" have 200MB of free space on your system, I would imagine it's running pretty slow. I would start looking adding another/bigger hard drive real quick. Systems run best when they have at least, 500MB of free space to work with.
